ICCA ANNUAL CAKE COMPETITION - WEDDING CAKES

ICCA had their first Annual Cake Competition. I took part in the wedding cake category. My entry was an Indian wedding cake . Details abt the cake have been given in a separate post below.  The competition was held in Sunway Giza Mall at Kota Damansara. It was held from 1st Oct - 3rd Oct. The first day was opening ceromany and judging of the wedding cakes. There were many demos held on the first two days. The second day was kids and teens competition which was on the spot. The final day was judges feedback and closing ceromany.

We were asked to arrive at 8am to submit our cake entrys. I left my place at 7am and since it was the first time driving to this area duing the peak office hours i was not sure what time i will reach. Not forgeting i had a Cake in my car so the maximum speed i was driving was 40kph. Finally I reach Giza at 7.30am.I was the first one to arrive. The ICCA memebers were setting up the competition area. My darling husband came to Giza to carry the cake all the way from the parking to the competition area and then he had to rush to work. At 8am all the contestants started to come one by one. Pauline, Shikin, Kelvin, Louis etc.........It was nice to see some MCDC memebers and there work........

This is my cake entry ......

After the Judges judged all the cake, then there was opening ceremony and demos by Eddie Spence and some Wilton instructors. By the time i went home it was around 10.30pm. Overall it was a great day . I couldnt go on saturday since was busy with cake orders.
On sunday was the judges feedback and closing ceremony.......

Debbie Brown said she loved my figures and that they were perfect.... i was so happy to hear that......

Eddie Spence said that he loved the elephants and the Mehendi work. He said that i could have improved the peacocks by giving it the 2D effect with fondant. He also said i had to put florist tape on all my roses needed more roses to cover all the gaps.......

Some pictures with friends & Eddie

More Posing and Pictures ...............

Even though i didn't win, i had a great sense of accoplishement in knowing that i can produce such a wonderful cake which was admired by many.
All in all it was a great event and looking forward to next years competition.
