Bake with Kuali at MIB

Kuali was having a " Bake With Kuali" workshop for six months from Jan till June. Luckily I was able to attend the last workshop for this year. The workshop was held in Malaysian Institute of Baking (MIB) on 18th June. We were taught how to make Pizzas from scratch, Almond Cake and Almond chocolate cookies.

Upon arrival we were give a goodies bag with a apron, hat, pen, paper, MIB booklet and recipe booklet. We were assembled into a conference hall and there was a hour of theory class on how to bake the recipes. Then we were asked to go downstairs and form a group of 4. Each group had to bake all the three recipes from scratch. While we were waiting for our cakes and pizzas to be baked we were given refreshment which consisited of Pizza Bread, Chicken Lasanya, Tea and Coffee.

Here are some pictures of the fun filled day...............

TAN SEE FONG LIVE Cake Decorating Competition

On 10th June there was TAN SEE FONG's "LIVE" Unique Cake Decorating Competition. The participants were given 90min to decorate a round sponge cake. They were provided with Fresh Cream, Melted Dark and White Chocolate, Spatulas, colours etc.
I decided to do an engagement cake. First I cut out the round cake to 1 big heart shape and another mini heart shape. The cake was frosted with fresh cream and stacked on top of each other to form a 2 - tier cake. Then I airbrushed the cake with red sheen colour. I coloured white chocolate gray and molded the bride and groom using TSF moulds. I also moulded a heart shape box, cupids, congratulations wording and made two rings out of chocolate.
I won "SPECIAL PRIZE" for my cake design and was awarded with a medal, certificate and a TSF pattern mould.
