This Cake was designed for the International Center of Cake Artersty (ICCA) wedding cake competition. I wanted to do a Indian wedding cake since its so difficult to find a traditional indian wedding cake bring out the Indian Culture and Heritage. The colours choosen were Red, Orange and Yellow , typical colours when u think of a Indian wedding. The whole cake was air brushed with Yellow, Orange and Red. I had a Indian Bride and Groom sitting on the first tier. The Bride was dressed in a traditional Saree with all her jewelary, make up, Mehendi on her hands etc. The pallu of the Bride's Saree was handpainted with gold and silver. The groom was dressed in a Kurta Set with a matching shawl. The second tier was a peacock,India' s National Bird. This peacock was done in royal icing and hand painted and dusted with edible sparkle dust to give it the bling. Then there were roses in the colour scheme of yellow, orange and red. The 3rd tier was two decorated elephants done with fondant to give it a 2D effect and hand painted. The 4th tier & the cake board was decorated with Mehendi design. The whole cake board was sprayed with gold spray for that shine. I was really glad i did this cake since i was the only Indian wedding cake among all the 80 entries.
This is the final cake .............
