PME DIPLOMA IN SUGARPASTE
I Completed my PME Dipoloma in Sugarpaste in Feb 2011 from Artisan Cake Craft. We learnt a lot of new types of decorating techniques with Sugarpaste. Each cake we were made to cover a cake/dummy with sugarpaste and do specific designs.
Day 1 was mostly theory and we learnt to us our tools and cutter. we learnt about Inlay and Outlay, how to use Crimpers, creative plaques etc......

Day 2 of Class, we were asked to cover a butter cake with sugarpaste and decorate with Garrett Frills on the Side. We also had to make our own Romantic Bear Couple.
This is how my cake turned out ......

On Day 3 we covered a Fruit cake with Marzipan and Sugarpaste. The bottom tier was a real fruit cake and the top tier was dummy. We were then asked to decorated with swags and ribbons on the side of the bottom tier and the top tier was fabric roses and leaves.

On Day 4 wer covered a dummy square cake with sugarpaste and decorated with Embroderie Anglaise Cutters, Eyelet Cutters for the sides. we had to make rocking horse and butterflys for the top of the cake.

Day 5 was Graduation Day. We had to decorate our own free style wedding cake. Half a day was given to decorate the cake and the other half day we had to make our own bride and groom figures. It was a mad dash on that day. I had selected Ivory and Gold theme Cake. The cake was covered with Ivory sugar paste and I did Corolli Lace design on the sides. I gave a golden rope boarder for cakes.
This is how my graduation cake turned out ......

My final Graduation PME SUGARPASTE DIPLOMA Certificate.

TRADITIONAL INDIAN WEDDING CAKE
This Cake was designed for the International Center of Cake Artersty (ICCA) wedding cake competition. I wanted to do a Indian wedding cake since its so difficult to find a traditional indian wedding cake bring out the Indian Culture and Heritage. The colours choosen were Red, Orange and Yellow , typical colours when u think of a Indian wedding. The whole cake was air brushed with Yellow, Orange and Red. I had a Indian Bride and Groom sitting on the first tier. The Bride was dressed in a traditional Saree with all her jewelary, make up, Mehendi on her hands etc. The pallu of the Bride's Saree was handpainted with gold and silver. The groom was dressed in a Kurta Set with a matching shawl. The second tier was a peacock,India' s National Bird. This peacock was done in royal icing and hand painted and dusted with edible sparkle dust to give it the bling. Then there were roses in the colour scheme of yellow, orange and red. The 3rd tier was two decorated elephants done with fondant to give it a 2D effect and hand painted. The 4th tier & the cake board was decorated with Mehendi design. The whole cake board was sprayed with gold spray for that shine. I was really glad i did this cake since i was the only Indian wedding cake among all the 80 entries.
My adorable bride and groom...........

The Groom's costume was inspired by my husbands engagement costume....
Do you notice that the groom is holding the bride's hand....;-)
The Second Tier....Royal icing peacocks which were hand painted and dusted with edible glitter..........
My roses & cute elephants ...........
The final tier and the cake board............
So now if anyone needs a traditional Indian wedding cake , you know who to contact ;-).
Cheers
